GREAT NEWS & GREAT THANKS to the wonderful Open Hearts Foundation!

Thank You to the Staff, Board & Co-Founder Jane Seymour of the Open Hearts Foundation, who are granting the CLF a $25,000 grant for its new CLF Step Forward Emergency Family Fund!

*Press Release from MyNewsLA: Seeking to keep nonprofit organizations that serve women and children afloat through the coronavirus pandemic, the Open Hearts Foundation co-founded by actress/philanthropist Jane Seymour announced Monday the creation of an emergency relief fund.

“Thanks to the generosity of our donors and partners, the Open Hearts Foundation is thrilled to support nonprofits on the front lines delivering the most basic human care and support to at-risk and vulnerable women and children during this worldwide pandemic,” Trena Pitchford, the foundation’s executive director, said in a statement. “The Board of Directors and I feel compelled to respond with immediate support. We are in this together and we will get through this, together.”

With an initial total investment of $100,000, the foundation awarded the first six grants to nonprofit groups in California and New York, where the pandemic is impacting larger populations, according to the foundation. Los Angeles-area beneficiaries were the Children’s Lifesaving Foundation, receiving a $25,000 matching grant; Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, receiving a $5,000 grant; Jenesse Center, receiving a $10,000 matching grant; and Mending Kids, receiving a $10,000 matching grant.

“The coronavirus is an unprecedented situation which is impacting the health of people across the world,” Seymour said in a statement. “My mother, Mieke Frankenberg, always said that in times of great challenge, you must accept what is happening, and look to see what you can do to help others. The Foundation is doing just that by establishing this emergency relief fund.”

With the newest grants, the Open Hearts Foundation has provided more than $1 million to support charities that aid children, veterans, the homeless and those affected by various debilitating diseases like Alzheimer’s, lupus or ALS, according to the organization.
