How old do I have to be to become a CLF Teen Camp Counselor?
You have to be a 16 years old or older, and in high school.
How do I get an application?
Just fill out the C-I-T Application HERE, and we will email it back to you ASAP!
What are the Requirements and Cost?
if you are the correct age, you just have to have a willingness to help Others, and a positive attitude! There is also a required Camp donation from parents of $350-which helps CLF send very low-income LAUSD students to Camp, and is fully tax-Deductible. (This can also be paid in two installments, if needed.)
Gee, but do I have to know how to surf for the Surf Camps at Zuma Beach in Malibu?
No way! it would be great if you know how to swim, though, and that you’re comfortable in the water, and at the beach itself. (And you definitely will be with our staff at all times, during all program activities- at the campsite at king ranch gillette, or, at zuma beach.)
Is there an Orientation of any kind-so that my family and I can learn more?
Yes! We are scheduling special ZOOM Orientations at this time-we will be contacting you after you fill out the CIT Application.
What is the 2023 Camp for All Schedule?
Wilderness Camp will run June 15th (training day) through June 28th (weekdays). at King Gillette Ranch in Calabasas and Coastal Eco-Mariners Surf Camp will run at Zuma Beach in Malibu Wednesdays through Fridays from july 10th through July 31st.
Do I have to bring my own lunch & snacks?
No way! We provide a great lunch each day, and snacks and beverages.
What do I wear?
We provide you with one T-shirt, which you are required to wear each day at camp, & you can wear comfortable, appropriate summer clothing, (Plus-Please Bring a bathing suit for Surf Camp!) Please also bring a towel and comfortable shoes. (Extra T-Shirts may be purchased for $25, if needed.)
What if I have travel plans on some days?
No worries at all, we can schedule around you ( but please note, the full Donation amount still applies, and your community service hours will be adjusted accordingly.)
Are the camps overnight?
No, The wilderness camps at king ranch gillette, and the Surf camp at Zuma Beach are Day Camps, and SO much fun! It will be an Amazing summer experience of doing good and having a blast while doing so…We can’t wait to meet you!
