Being a “Lifesaver” for the CLF was so much more fun than we ever could have imagined! Spending a day outside with these amazing kids, who just are so excited to be there out on the beach and in the sun, was eye-opening and refreshing. We loved hanging out and getting to know these precious kids, who were excited to try surfing, whether that meant boogie boarding in the waves, playing in the sand, just barely touching the cold salt water, or standing up on their board for the very first time. It was really special to spend a day with them and felt like more of an honor for us to get to see them loving the simple things in life. Their laughter was truly contagious, and it was clear that the CLF does an amazing thing for so many kids in our city!”
I came to volunteer with CLF by some chance of fate. One summer I wanted to enrich myself by teaching children who had no means to enjoy sports, fitness, and outdoor recreational activities and found this opportunity to attend Surf Camp. When I arrived at the Beach as a volunteer on a early Saturday morning, I was greeted with much warmth by the staff and the children that they serve. It was love at first sight, and now my most favorite past time!”
