In 2004, the CLF began tutoring the children in our Vita Network at the Vera Davis Center in Venice, and in February 2006, we opened a new “Care through College” Learning Center in Santa Monica. In the Fall of 2008, the CLF was thrilled when the Boys and Girls Club of Venice offered us a home for this program at their facility. At the new location, which is an accredited after-school facility, the children in our Vita Network,  as well as children from the Boys & Girls Club & local Mar Vista-Venice-Culver City community,  receive one-on-one tutoring sessions and help with classroom projects and reports, gain use and knowledge of computers and the internet, are still able to participate in fantastically enriching outings, listen to special Dream Mentor speakers, and celebrate birthdays and Family Pizza Nights at great restaurants  together.

The CLF’s main objective through the Care through College Educational Program is to still make certain that the participants greatly succeed academically, and that each child becomes ready for college, insuring a secure and successful future. (Over 45 college scholarships have been awarded to date!)

The McHugh-O’Donovan Foundation Shining Stars Scholars Program awards qualifying students in our Vita Network with a FULL FOUR YEAR SCHOLARSHIP.  A complementary Summer Camp4All Program  also provides  great day trips, and these children during these crucial months.
