Since the summer of 1993, over 30,500 homeless, shelter bound and at-risk youth have attended the CLF’s Enrichment Camps, through a program called the
Summer Camp FUN Enrichment program.
This program incorporates the natural setting of the classic camp experience into healthy, constructive and educational activities, designed to provide vibrantly positive, life-affirming outdoor experiences to children with little or no opportunities for such.
Program Emphasis is placed upon:
Camp FUN Enrichment Activities
Team-building skills through specially designed ropes courses and cooperation exercises.
An authentic fifty-foot Climbing Wall.
Group Workshops on finding and building one’s dreams.
Native American Chumash history is taught by special guest artists and Native Elders: The children learn about song, dance, beading and lore of the Chumash Native Americans.
Swimming, surf lessons and delicious pizza picnics on Zuma Beach!
Informative Nature Education Hikes on absolutely dazzling trails!
Great Organic Arts Projects!
Two great meals and a snack a day, served by our staff
Parents are always welcome to attend.
Surf Camps
The CLF has partnered with Malibu Makos to bring the beach home for over 500 shelterbound youth and their parents for Surf Camp, and for a full round of Summer Surf Instruction to the children in our Care through College Learning Center!
Days at Zuma Beach, lunch on the sand, and an excellent time is had learning to surf, and we mean, really learning to surf, and getting up on that board!
